Goa Police on GIS network
Micro Technologies (I) Ltd., has bagged a major order for developing A system of geographic information for the management of emergencies and for coordination of operations for Goa Police. The software provided would be customised using an International GIS tool GeoConcept. MTIL are partners for GeoConcept in India.
The system will be a Client-Server system having ORACLE as the database. A detail street level map of Goa (1:2000) with all the required details by police like Police stations, Police station zones, Worship places, Criminal points, Sensitive zones etc. will be prepared by MTIL. All Police stations will have access to the database and the map, and can execute any database or map related query.
The criminal data will be in Oracle and will be updated on daily basis, which in turn will be plotted on the map. With this photographic view of the crime picture by type of crime, or equally by location, it will be possible to relocate in the best manner the presence of local police forces.
A VVIP visit creates perturbations and necessitates putting in place a specific plan of action for the police forces. This unique software enables to define the itinerary taken by the official convoy and is cut into sections to which the forces of law and order are assigned for their mission. Locating of personnel’s from minute to minute, immediate action of repositioning of police officers in case of any incidents (fights, roadblocks, etc.) will also be done by the software which in turn can be adapted in real time.
