IDEAL Releases 50" Wide Color ScanCENTRAL High Speed, Exact Color Match Scan-to-Print System

Seybold, San Francisco, CA , IDEAL Scanners & Systems, Inc. (IDEAL) releases 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL a new, production-oriented, high speed, high fidelity scan to print system for scanning, printing, and copying of large format originals including photographs, color renderings, posters, and artwork. IDEAL's 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL operates in the Lab/CIE color space and uses the ICC device profiles to ensure very precise color control. Color ScanCENTRAL is a computer-driven scan to print system featuring an integrated solution of hardware and software designed for corporations, in-house service bureaus, reprographic service bureaus, and photo labs targeting the print for pay market. IDEAL's 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL can be integrated with IDEAL's Digital Container, a browser-based web archive management solution that allows all drawings and documents to be stored in one location for easy retrieval and online soft proofing.

IDEAL Color ScanCENTRAL consists of a SuperWIDE50, 50" wide, 24 bit RGB color scanner with a high speed scan to print controller performing all the calculations for color management matching color for color from scan to print. The system is completely compatible with PC and Mac. IDEAL's 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL can print to multiple printers over a network.

IDEAL's 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL provides more functionality than most current scan to print systems. IDEAL 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL can be used stand-alone or over the network printing to multiple inkjets individually, in mass, or to user defined groups. You can scan a 30" x 42" color original to most of the popular large format printers in less than 90 seconds. There are user definable templates to store the most often used settings for photographs, maps, or color renderings. There are filter pipelines that users can apply for special effects to the original artwork including edge detection, line sharpening, adaptive thresholding, and median filtering. After the original artwork is scanned there is a preview function that applies all the color filters and color corrections automatically for a quick color proof. IDEAL's 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL will drive all the most popular large format plotters including Hewlett Packard, Kodak, EnCAD, Océ, Xerox, Calcomp, RasterGraphics, Tektronix, and most PostScript printers.

IDEAL's 50" wide Color ScanCENTRAL has three operating modes including scan to print on the fly, background printing, and print from file. These scanning modes are user friendly and the interface has multiple screens one for each mode of scanning. Scan to print on the fly allows line by line image processing and printing. This mode allows the user to scan-to-print and scan-to-file with the same scan. It will allow printer pooling for multiple copies utilizing multiple plotters. Background printing allows data to be queued up in the printing/ripping spooler and processed when a plotter becomes available. In this mode and with enough disk space, 20 color E-Size originals can be processed an hour and spooled to one or more printers. The print from file mode allows the creating and importing of standard client file types including TIFF, JPEG, or Postscript and archived scans for printing.
