Red Hen Systems Sponsoring Multimedia Mapping Conference
Red Hen Systems, Inc. announced it is sponsoring a VMS 200 User's Conference in Estes Park, Colorado, on October 11-12, for users of the pioneering multimedia mapping system, VMS 200. Vice President Carol Snyder explained that since the initial release of the technology in 1998, a new kind of mapping professional has appeared on the GIS scene: the multimedia mapper.
MediaMapper 3.0, the next step in this multimedia mapping evolution, has recently been released. It maps GPS data recorded on video or digital still media with the use of the VMS 200 GPS device. The new software supports a growing community of GIS-savvy technophiles in a wide range of fields who need an automated solution to creating and linking multimedia records to map locations. Previous versions mapped from video only, but Dr. Snyder pointed out that one of the principal advances in MediaMapper is the ability to map using the Kodak DC290 Digital Zoom Camera for still images. ``Some of our users don't always need a continuous video record. They wanted to use a digital still camera with our multimedia mapping process. We discovered FlashPoint's Digita operating system used in the Kodak DC290 gave us an excellent opportunity to develop exactly what those customers were asking for.''
For many users, the VMS 200 User's Conference will be the first exposure to mapping with the new digital still solution. It will also be a chance for curious onlookers to find out more about multimedia mapping and how GIS professionals have used the method to increase the quantity and quality of information they are able to map.
