Tripod Data Systems Expects Few Changes After Acquisition Traditions, Location and Popular TDS Name to Remain

Tripod Data Systems, Inc. (TDS), a leading developer of innovative software solutions for the land surveying, construction and geographical information systems mapping industries, agreed last week to enter into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Trimble Navigation Limited, headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif. TDS will stay in their Corvallis and Portland, Ore. facilities and keep their popular company name.

The change is not expected to affect current TDS staffing and they will continue to support their existing customers with innovative software solutions and product enhancements.

"We've enjoyed the relationships we've built over the years with our customers and felt that it was important to let everyone know that we expect no change to the level of support we currently provide to our original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners and our distribution network," said David Scribner, TDS president. "We also know that the happiness of our customers is largely due to the work of our highly skilled TDS professionals and the unique company culture we have here. We don't anticipate changes to be made to this winning formula," he said.

TDS subsidiary At Work Computers will become an operating division of TDS, with a continued focus on rugged handheld computers for outdoor and industrial applications. TDS subsidiary PenMetrics will also be merged into TDS, along with the SOLO product line, to form an operating division focused on mapping applications for geographical information systems.
