High Speed Net Solutions successfully maps ocean floor for Navy
Raleigh, N.C., April 3, High Speed Net Solutions, announced that its Summus Side Scan Sonar Image Analysis software has successfully completed its first Navy field test in the Pacific Ocean, opening the way for more effective undersea exploration.
The Navy was evaluating the capability and performance of its Organic Mine Countermeasures (MCM) for use in detecting, characterizing and neutralizing mines. Summus' Side-Scan Sonar Image Analysis Solution was tested for its ability to enhance the Navy's MCM Operation. The primary function of the Summus sonar software is to provide an automatic process for sea bottom provincing. The field test was part of the U.S. Navy's fleet exercise, code named Kernel Blitz 01 (KB01).
The Summus research and development team, within High Speed Net Solutions, has taken the concept of Side-Scan Sonar Image Analysis, a software system for automatic seafloor mapping and classification, from research to practical application in less than one year. This was a key factor in the Navy's decision to move forward with the company.
