China Planning CAD Land Information System Database

Shanghai, April 4, China's Ministry of Land and Natural Resources will launch a national-level CAD land information system by the end of this year to provide illustrated information on China's blueprint for the land distribution for various purposes over the next 10 years. At this stage the ministry has finished designing the system on the national and provincial levels and is moving towards implementation.

The CAD information system, designed to be linked up with the land resource monitoring satellite, uses different colors to distinguish areas of farmland, construction land and forest coverage at five levels, including the national, provincial, city, county and township levels, reported Renmin Ribao.

After being hooked up with the satellite monitoring system, the system will update maps on specific changes of land use, which can be easily understood by ordinary people.

In addition, the system will provide effective reference and evidence for the government to regulate land utilization and punish illegal requisitions of farmland, said Pan Wencan, director of the planning department under the ministry.
