Indonesia to launch telecom satellite in 2003
Jakarta, Apr 11, The state-run PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (PT Telkom) is planning to launch its Telkom-2 telecommunications satellite in 2003 to replace the Palapa B4, according to a report.
"Considering that Palapa B4 will end its operations in 2003, it means that Telkom-2 has to be in orbit that same year," Telkom operations director SK Komarudin was quoted as saying by the Bisnis Indonesia daily.
Komarudin said the cost of putting the Telkom-2 into orbit was expected to be about the same as for Telkom-1 Last year, or around 195 million dollars. He gave no further details.
