WesternGeco completes multi-client seismic data acquisition offshore Suriname

Houston & Paramaribo, Suriname, April 20, WesternGeco has completed data acquisition of the 600-km, ocean-bottom cable phase of its multi-client seismic survey, offshore Suriname. This shallow-water segment completes the survey WesternGeco , which began in January, 2001. In total, more than 5000 km of 2D seismic survey were acquired using state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, a well-tie program was performed connecting seven offshore wells.

These data will add to the planned bidding round in part of the Suriname open offshore acreage. Six open areas near shore and one area onshore will be announced in the second quarter of 2001, with additional bidding rounds including other open areas planned through 2002.

All data are expected to be processed by July 31, 2001, and sample sections will be available for viewing at the AAPG convention in Denver, June 3-6, 2001.
