Autodesk Announces New Virtual Internship Program Print
San Rafael, California, April 10, Autodesk, Inc, has announced the launch of the Autodesk Virtual Internship Program, a new program intended to complement students' education, while giving employers increased access to future employees who are developing cutting-edge design skills using Autodesk® software.
Companies seeking interns from participating educational institutions can post opportunities to Autodesk's website at www.autodesk.com/education. Educational facilities can establish a direct communications link with interested industry contacts to clarify project details, define the expectations of student interns, and determine the process for selecting interns. Once an educator and a company have agreed to enter into an internship agreement, all project collaboration can be accomplished via the Internet. Autodesk anticipates the registration of some 200 companies and educators over the next three years.
By collaborating with mentors via the Internet, students can become "virtual" interns at participating companies without having to relocate. The new Virtual Internship Program provides specific benefits for mentors, educators, and interns. Mentors from architectural design, land development, manufacturing, utilities, telecommunications, and media and entertainment industries will use Autodesk software to help students develop industry-specific skills. Educators will have access to valuable resources that enrich their school's learning environment and allow them to stay close to trends in the workplace. Interns will obtain firsthand experience in an area directly related to their program of study while networking with future employers.
