Motorola Wins $29 Million Wireless Network Expansion Project In Jordan
Arlington Heights, Ill., April 18, Motorola's Global Telecom Solutions Sector has announced that it has been awarded $29 million Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) digital wireless network expansion by Jordan Mobile Telephone Services (Fastlink).
The network expansion is being designed to serve as phase one for increasing the subscriber base from 500,000 to 750,000, primarily in Amman, Jordan's capital, and Aqaba, Jordan's principal port city, and other major cities and roads in the Kingdom. The targeted completion date for the project is July 2001.
According to the terms of the deal, Motorola will install additional cellular base station equipment, using its industry-leading Horizonmacro, Horizonmicro and Horizoncompact products. Motorola also will increase the network's switching capacity.
Motorola also will provide a number of network tools and services. These include engineering services to plan the radio interface, switching support, over all system engineering and network optimization. The tools component, which includes Intelligent Optimization Services, Network Health Analyst and a Cell Optimization Product, are used to maximize network optimization.
