    Infotech UK arm buys Mapcentric

Hyderabad, April 19, Infotech Enterprises Ltd (IEL), the city-based software solutions major, has announced that its UK GROUP Company --Infotech Enterprises Europe -- has acquired the London-based Mapcentric, Europe's leading independent GIS distributor. Currently, Mapcentric has a network of over 400 customers and distributors offering third party GIS applications, data and services.

In a press communiqué on Thursday, Infotech stated that Mapcentric would operate as a separate business unit, forming the basis of a new Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME) division within Infotech Europe.

The EAME division would be responsible for increasing Infotech Europe's presence in key European markets by promoting the company's range of GIS services through its partner base, enabling them to remain competitive in the changing European market. Further, the EAME division would continue to distribute key GIS applications.
