Palmtop launches TomTom CityMaps
18 April 2001 -- Palmtop Software has announced CityMaps, the latest title under its TomTom brand and an urban route planner for European cities.
Palmtop recently relaunched all of its consumer software titles for Symbian, Palm and Pocket PC devices with the TomTom moniker, the same brand it is using for its wireless location platform. CityMaps is provided in two editions, one for the UK and another for continental Europe. Each version is supplied on CD-ROM and contains maps for around 30,000 villages, towns and cities throughout Europe. CityMaps enables the user to locate roads and maps the optimum route between two points. It supports colour and automatic location tracking using an optional GPS. Palmtop produces a range of navigational software for mobile devices and has developed its TomTom platform to provide rich mapping applications for virtually any wireless device. The company is working with Ericsson and Symbian to deploy TomTom technology to mobile users.
