Graticule's latest software for locating of GSM mobile telephones fitted with GPS Receivers
Leeds, West Yorkshire, April 19, Graticule, the software engineering company specialising in deriving value-added information from location, have unveiled a live demonstration for interrogating and mapping the location of GSM mobile telephones fitted with satellite Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. An icon shows the location of each mobile telephone on high quality colour maps on a personal computer running Microsoft Windows 98/NT/2000 environments. The demonstration shows the potential for tracking and analysis of "People on the Move" or other mobile business assets such as vehicles using telecommunications.
Graticule's software has been designed to work with mobile telecommunications technology today based on GSM receivers but will be capable of being adapted for use with 3G networks and solutions when they become available.
The software offers potential for immediate use in several market sectors. It is aimed at managers with a fleet of vehicles or employees working in the field. For example, managers with a fleet of vehicles can automatically dial up each vehicle, interrogate its location and track its movements on a map. To take another example, social service managers with responsibility for home care visitors can monitor and map the locations of each worker throughout the day. The software brings major benefits to managers who have to respond quickly to customer needs by rescheduling logistic plans or visits by home care workers.
Based on Graticule's mapping, satellite GPS and telecommunications technologies, the software runs on a PC running Microsoft Windows NT environment with a modem. It can be customised to meet the specific needs of managers. It brings to the mobile market a range of location-based services. By placing a short call to a GSM phone, the location of the phone can be determined to an accuracy of about 10 meters. Custom solutions can be linked to E-mail, Fax, video, audio download and streaming, electronic postcard and animated graphics exchange.
