GPS Wireless 2001 set for March 1-2 in San Francisco

San Francisco, Feb. 15 -- More than 300 mobile information professionals from the largest automobile manufacturers, wireless carriers, mobile electronics vendors and computer companies will meet March 1-2 for GPS- Wireless 2001 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel-San Francisco Airport.

This fifth annual conference, sponsored by Global Technology Communications Inc., features more than 40 speakers from Aether Systems, GM OnStar, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Rand McNally, Motorola, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Mazda, Mercedes Benz and many others. This year's keynote speaker is Harel Kodesh, President and CEO of the Ford-Qualcomm Wingcast venture.

The largest automotive manufacturers, wireless carriers, GPS providers, software companies are finding more ways to get information into a vehicle or a mobile device such as a PDA-whether that be traffic information, location-based e-commerce, navigation and emergency services. Conservative estimates place this worldwide market to be in the billions of dollars. GPS- Wireless 2001 allows industry executives the chance to find out where the market is going and network with the major mobile information players.

"Several automobile manufacturers are offering telematics systems as a standard feature this year. Companies such as GM OnStar are offering its mobile information service to millions of vehicles," says Kevin Dennehy, GTCI president. "Wireless carriers, looking to meet the FCC's enhanced 911 mandate, are planning to offer location services as an offshoot. Fleet management markets are strong worldwide."

GPS-Wireless 2001 sponsors include Etak Inc., Wingcast, Synergy Systems, ALK Technology, the Consumer Electronics Association, Telcontar and SiRF. GPS-Wireless 2001 also features more than 40 tabletop displays from many of the top vendors.

GPS-Wireless 2001 offers a keynote luncheon, networking coffee breaks, a hosted reception and buffet luncheon with tabletops and a 300-page binder full of market information. In addition, GPS-Wireless 2001 offers discounts for two or more attendees from the same company and significant savings on lodging at the Hyatt Regency-San Francisco Airport.
