Webraska, Nextenso and Cityvox partners of Alcatel for the new version of the Mobile City offer
Cannes, France, 22st February 2000
Webraska, a provider of wireless navigation services and technologies, Nextenso, a subsidiary of Alcatel, and Cityvox, a content and service provider in Europe, are coming together with Alcatel to offer the new version of the Mobile City offer.
In launching this new package, Alcatel have three specific aims to achieve:
- Responding to the needs of users who are always on the move: this offer has been especially tailored for city dwellers aged 20 to 45 in need of information in order to better manage their free time. The services available in this package enable them to track down a particular restaurant or shop, to find a chemist's at 3 am, to be directed from where they are calling to their meeting point, or even to book a weekend away or flight at the last minute.
- Benefiting from the latest technology available to offer users local services, by drawing upon the Nextenso tracking server, which automatically calculates the geographical location of the mobile phone user.
- Working alongside content and service providers who have become pillars of the mobile sector such as Webraska, and CityVox.
- Proposing a package of services, strongly integrated to bring more simplicity and efficiency to the users in a mobile environment.
The Mobile City offer is part of a larger Alcatel offer, aimed at operators and distributors wishing to acquire a 'ready-for-use' service offering local information, practical suggestions, and details of leisure activities.
Alcatel and its partners are therefore combining their considerable knowledge of the mobile market to herald a whole new generation of Internet services.
