Yorkshire Global Restaurants Uses Hi-Tech Mapping System
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 20, Yorkshire Global Restaurants, parent company for A&W Restaurants (A&W) and Long John Silver's Restaurants (LJS), has introduced a sophisticated global information system (GIS) called AnySite Program to help pinpoint the best potential sites for new restaurants, giving the restaurant chain a competitive and strategic advantage for traditional and non traditional restaurant growth such as gas and convenience stores.
"The AnySite program is a resource for the entire company," says Suzanne Brosick, senior GIS analyst for YGR. "This program allows us to look at our units individually, and our stores as a whole. We can use GIS to help franchisees with new store site selection, and to allocate appropriate operations and marketing support to our stores." Using software including AnySite and Map Info, both LJS and A&W analyze proposed store locations and the combined 2,300 existing locations to determine sales potential and trends, proximity issues, co-branding opportunities, and where customers come from.
"Competition for the best store locations and customers is fierce," notes Brosick. "GIS gives our company and our franchisees a resource that will help them serve their customers more effectively. In addition, GIS is one of the many tools we can use to map out the future for our organization, by helping determine which geographic areas should be developed and what trends will affect our industry. With this knowledge, we can help guide the growth of our organization."
According to Bryon Stephens, YGR vice president franchise sales, the GIS is a technology-driven tool for new and existing franchisees and can give its operators a competitive edge. "The GIS is a wonderful tool for our operators to select the right location. Because of the skyrocketing costs of real estate, it is important to select best possible site available" he added.
