Cannes, France, Feb. 20, Autodesk Location Services, a division of Autodesk, Inc. today announced the public unveiling of Autodesk LocationLogic during the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France.
Wireless carriers and enterprises are looking for ways to reach mobile professionals and consumers with new value-added services. Autodesk Location Services will be their technology infrastructure provider, offering a developer platform and applications to facilitate the delivery of location-based services that increase productivity and convenience for mobile individuals.
"Autodesk LocationLogic provides wireless carriers and operators with a fast-start into the emerging location-based services market," said Joe Astroth, executive vice president of Autodesk Location Services. "Location-based services offer carriers a way to attract new subscribers and increase average-revenue-per-user... Further, we offer the advantage of access to Autodesk's worldwide developer network and established partnerships."
The LocationLogic solution brings together all of the technology underpinnings which together create the foundation upon which application developers and/or carriers and operators can easily develop and deploy market-ready location-based services. The platform is built from the ground-up to address the demands for data services across wireless networks, which include high performance and scalability to a high volume of transactions per unit of time. Further, Autodesk is meeting the needs of wireless carriers by offering a full solution that meets their need for reliable, 24x7 service and privacy protection for users.
LocationLogic software and support includes application design, development services, maintenance, training and technical support to wireless carriers/operators and vertical markets that in turn will provide location services to mobile individuals. Autodesk LocationLogic is compatible with a variety of operating systems employed by mobile phones, PDA's, and laptops making it easy for developers to add additional functionality to existing applications. Autodesk's LocationLogic platform will be commercially available in summer 2001.
