VIAG Interkom and AirFlash to deliver Location based Services in Germany

Munich, Germany and, Cannes, France, Feb. 20, At 3GSM World Congress VIAG Interkom and AirFlash, Inc. today announced an agreement to develop and deliver location-based services to VIAG Interkom's mobile phone customers in Germany. VIAG Interkom will deploy services based on the AirFlash(TM) SmartZone(TM) development platform that will be showcased for the first time at the CeBIT 2001 Trade Fair in Hannover, Germany in March.

During the first phase to be launched in March, AirFlash will integrate a suite of applications, based on the SmartZone platform, including yellow pages search, driving directions, cash machine finders, and hotel and restaurant guides with VIAG Interkom's Genion auto-location technology to produce Germany's first comprehensive, fully integrated location-based service to mobile users. In order to demonstrate the service's capabilities to the industry, VIAG Interkom and AirFlash will develop a 'Hannover Finder' designed specifically for delegates during CeBIT.

"We firmly believe that location-based services will help to encourage our customers' interest in mobile Internet services because, for the first time, they will have access to services that are truly valuable," said Gerhard Mayrhofer, managing director of VIAG Interkom Online. "The partnership with AirFlash provides us with the best avenue for delivering a wide range of compelling services to our customers by giving us the flexibility to customise them as our customers' needs grow."

"The combination of the auto-location functionality of VIAG Interkom's network and the applications delivered on top of our SmartZone platform makes a very exciting service offering for mobile users in Germany," said Rama Aysola, founder and CEO of AirFlash.
