    Audiovox corporation announces technology enhancements for its FRS product lines, with built in GPS.

    N.Y., Jan. 10 -- Audiovox Corporation announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Audiovox Electronics Corporation will expand its presence in the FRS market through the introduction of three new products including one with built in GPS. The GMRGPS is the company's first combination two-way radio and GPS unit. It features 7/38 channels of FRS and 8/38 channels of GMRS. With 2 watts of power and its 5-mile range, the GMRGPS is ideal for hunters, campers and hikers -- any outdoor enthusiasts who want step up features. Accessories for the GMRGPS include a desk-top rapid charger that can deliver a charge in 3 hours and a GMGP-PK starter pack consisting of a carrying case and ear microphone.

    Patrick Lavelle, President and Chief Executive Officer of Audiovox Electronics Corporation disclosed his year 2001 game plan at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. "Over the past two years," he says, "we have nearly tripled our presence in the FRS market. This year, the objective is innovation as we broaden our product offerings to the consumer. We believe that our FRS product line will be a significant contributing factor in our overall performance and should help generate improved top-line results."

    Audiovox Electronics Corporation has initiated an aggressive strategy to expand its market niche from automotive products into broader and more diversified consumer electronics products for people seeking leisure-time entertainment. The company has experienced rapid growth and increasing consumer demand for its FRS product offering, which has lead to increased products that are competitively priced and offer a variety of features and benefits making them dealer and customer friendly.

    The Company will also be introducing an FRS-500 Series consisting of the FR-500-2 three-channel unit in twin packs; FR-530-2, a 14-channel model in twin packs; and FR-540, a 14 x 38 channel transceiver in singles. There will also be two individual 14 channel units: the FR-560FM with built-in FM radio; and the FR-550WB with built-in weather band station.
