ISRO ties up with Karnataka Govt
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Karnataka Government have come together to work out GIS-based urban and rural models for development and e-governance.
The space agency will provide technical support through aerial and remote-sensing data of natural resources and includes developing high-resolution map. The network will cover a seven-point development action plan that covers e-education, telemedicine, e-governance, watershed development, identification and ground water resources and urban planning. It will also train staff of relevant departments. A proposed IT corridor between ITPL and Electronics City in Bangalore is part of the agreement with the Singapore Government to develop IT hub. This development action plan is the most detailed one to be undertaken by a state.
This project will be implemented by the State remote-sensing agency, now remodelled as Karnataka Space Applications Centre.
