Wavecom hires Corporate Manufacturing Director
Issy-les-Moulineaux, France - 18 January 2001 - Wavecom S.A, a l developer of digital wireless standard modules, today announced the appointment of Marc Cases as Corporate Manufacturing Director, effective immediately. Cases has overall responsibility for all production activity, including sourcing, purchasing and logistics. He will focus on two objectives in particular: ensuring sufficient subcontractor production capacity to meet Wavecom's short- and long-term production goals, and making certain that Wavecom remains competitive in terms of volumes, cost-efficiency, quality, and service.
Cases, 38, brings solid industrial experience from the aerospace and automotive electronics sectors. He began his professional career in 1983 with Sextant Avionique in France, where he was responsible for maintaining and designing research and production equipment. Six years later, he moved on to purchasing of components and technologies with responsibilities including subcontractor quality auditing and production management. He joined Magneti Marelli, a Fiat subsidiary, in 1992, as a purchasing manager for electronics components in charge of European-level contracts. In 1995, he was promoted to manager of corporate sourcing at the company's R&D headquarters in Turin, Italy, where he managed the introduction of new technologies such as GSM, GPS, speech recognition and WAP as well as the outsourcing of R&D and production. Cases, who has training in marketing, law and accounting as well as electronics, speaks English and Italian in addition to his native French.
