DeLorme purchased the SPOT USA Select nationwide satellite image mosaic under an exclusive mapping channel agreement with SPOT Image Corporation. DeLorme will produce and sell mapping products based on the 10-meter resolution true color mosaic, which was created from current SPOT satellite imagery. The imagery will be integrated with up-to-date DeLorme vector street, placename, and land-use, land-cover data. SPOT USA Select is the highest resolution image mosaic ever created of the entire U.S. The primary data source is SPOT 10-meter resolution, all collected within a short time period to ensure consistent quality. The product is colorized with Landsat 7 imagery and georeferenced using standard U.S. map points for consistency with other databases and maps. The GeoTIFF format allows the mosaic to be used with the widest range of display, mapping, and analysis software. DeLorme's first new satellite U.S. mapping product, 3-D ImageryMaps(TM), will be released region-by-region beginning with New Jersey and Delaware. Additional regions will be released as soon as the data becomes available. The product will also provide 2-D and 3-D map views, similar to DeLorme's very successful 3-D TopoQuads(R) product line. With DeLorme's first new digital satellite mapping product, users will be able to better plan large-scale projects involving corridor selection, conceptual site selection, land development, regional transportation studies, forestry analysis, and emergency planning.

i-cubed & Echo Flight partner to deliver ImageMap USA to Pilots across the country

i-cubed, LLC, and Echo Flight, Inc., have announced the signing of an agreement where
Echo Flight will incorporate i-cubed's ImageMap USA Landsat 7 mosaic into their Flight Cheetah GPS displays. This agreement will allow pilots across the country access to high-resolution satellite imagery while in flight. "We are excited to partner with Echo Flight in offering this state-of-the-art application of our ImageMap USA(TM) Landsat mosaic to the aviation industry", said Russ Cowart, President of i-cubed. Echo Flight will incorporate the 30-meter resolution version of ImageMap USA into its line of Flight Cheetah displays. i-cubed's mosaic was selected by Echo Flight in part because of its availability in a hill shaded version, highlighting terrain features not visible in ordinary imagery. ImageMap USA is the highest resolution, most up to date, color satellite mosaic of the conterminous United States ever produced. GPS satellite signals help drivers save fuel and reduce emissions

Mirenco has been issued a patent by the U.S.Patent and Trademark Office for their "Method and Apparatus for Reducing Unwanted Vehicle Emissions Using Satellite Navigation." Mirenco currently holds patents issued in the U.S., Canada and Mexico for advanced technologies designed to reduce over fueling of vehicle engines. The recently issued patent is effective through September 15, 2020, and covers an entirely new application for the satellite Global Positioning System (GPS). With GPS signals as input to the onboard EconoCruise(R) computer, a precise throttle position can be applied in real time based on "knowledge" of the upcoming terrain, surrounding conditions and the operators' objectives. Initially, the route map may be obtained through a prior run over the route so that on subsequent runs EconoCruise will "know" the terrain. In the future, Mirenco envisions versions of the EconoCruise employing real time onboard emissions sensors and communicating directly with existing highway map database systems such as Navtech(R) from Navigation Technologies, advanced systems from Trimble, or any number of navigational systems now being included in newer model vehicles.

Paradigm chosen to provide GPS-based tracking for highly sensitive security application

The PowerLOC Division of Paradigm Advanced Technologies, Inc. has confirmed that it has been chosen by a large U.S. city to supply a turnkey specialized tracking system solution for a high security project, which relates to the recent terrorist attacks in the United States. This project involves outfitting fleets of vehicles to ensure real-time tracking of each vehicle, driver and contents. Due to the extreme sensitive nature of this project, Paradigm has elected to follow the customer's directive by not providing any further details to the public. In this project PowerLOC is working with US based Criticom International Corporation (IDC) who is a PowerLOC licensed location service providers. IDC was selected for operating a PowerLOC L-Biz(TM) Tracker in a secure site and for being able to provide location-based emergency monitoring services. The contract with the City is expected to last for the duration of the ongoing project. No final value of the contract has been formally estimated at this time.

Computerized maps are latest weapon in battle against diseases
Fever, fatigue, sore throat, muscle aches, runny nose, and an all-over feeling of misery. It's that time of year again -- influenza and other sicknesses rear their ugly heads, and we are all at risk.
But, there is an even greater threat this year. Many other diseases startwith flu-like symptoms and distinguishing the differences can be difficult. That is why it has become a huge concern for public health systems and experts to track outbreaks of infectious diseases. In addition to breathing masks and antibiotics, computer software technology is being used to help fight the spread of such diseases. Companies like Seattle-based E-City Software, Inc. have developed unique computer mapping products that help city and state health departments with the fight. E-City's product, called 3D HealthMap, allows anyone in a city, including doctors, public health workers, receptionists, schools and members of the general public to track disease information in real-time in a way never before so accessible. "Mapping based public health tools are essential weapons in the public health arsenal, which is why the health departments of all 50 states have software from our business partner, ESRI, which allows them to track diseases using computerized maps," says E-City CEO Anis Jessa. "Powerful information about other more serious diseases could be tracked, gathered and disseminated through this tool." Influenza may be on our doorsteps but thanks to state-of-the art technology like 3D HealthMap, we may be on our way to leaving the flu outside in the cold.
