Intergraph has been involved in supporting response and recovery efforts in New York City, in many ways.
New York City Transit: With subway tunnels destroyed, roads closed, and transit routes disrupted in the city, Intergraph is helping the Transit Dept. integrate data from several city departments into a single map. This is helping management make better informed decisions on how to restore and rebuild transportation routes in Manhattan.
New Jersey Transit: This agency is using Intergraph's GIS software to develop new maps for rail and bus transportation into and out of NYC, needed since the disaster occurred.
Department of Defense: Intergraph has a comprehensive breadth of map production and cartography solutions that provide capabilities for digital and paper map production services and
technology for military intelligence and operations efforts. These are areas in which Intergraph has played a leading role, in the U.S. and in many military agencies in Europe and around the world.
Consolidated Edison of New York uses a facility management system driven by Intergraph's FRAMME software to maintain the definitive map for the electric, gas, and steam service in Manhattan and most of the surrounding boroughs. The maps are not limited to display of graphic elements; they also provide attribute information about transformers, power line capacities, installation details, and more.

Literacy bane for spread of e-governance
Low literacy levels and dominance of English in the software sector are the major obstacles in the spread of e-governance to the Indian masses, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh said here on Friday.
Speaking at an e-governance-summit organised by CII, he said that the state's achievements in the promotion of e-education includes the establishment of 800 'head start centres' which would impart primary computer education. 10,000 teachers have been trained in affiliation with IBM and subsidised institutions for IT education have been set up.
In order to address the language problems and carry the benefits of IT to the common man the government has come up with indigenously developed software packages in Hindi.
