    • Major Storms in Mississippi, US  [ 27/02/01 ]
      Strong storms in northern Mississippi has killed 7 people and damaged numerous buildings in Arkansas and Mississippi. The storm cut a path nearly 24 miles long and between 100 yards and 3/4-mile wide.

    • A project on China Historical Geographic Information System (CHGIS)

      It will provide a base GIS platform for spatial analysis, temporal statistical modeling, and representation of selected historical units as digital maps. The project intends to make the multi-lingual base GIS available to the scholarly community at no charge through download sites throughout the world.

      This will be an historic opportunity for high school students from across Canada to explore and experience the mysteries and wonders of Antarctica that have fascinated the world's great explorers and scientists.     • The first GeoSpatial World 2001 International Conference at Atlanta

    • World's first degree course on "Satallite Positioning Technology" by University of Nottingham, UK.

      University of Nottingham is offering degree course dedicated to Satellite Positioning Technology from the next academic year. Students embarking on the course, which starts in the University's Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy (IESSG), will get the chance to learn in depth about the science and practical uses of satellite positioning systems.
