    • Titan Launches USAF Milstar Satellite  [ 28/02/01 ]
      A Titan 4B successfully launched a U.S. Air Force Milstar 2-2 satellite from Cape Canaveral, LC 40, at 2120 UTC (1:20 p.m. PST) on February 27. The satellite system will provide the U.S. Department of Defense with reliable, secure, jam-proof communications between fixed-site, mobile, and portable terminals.


    • Laser-Scan Ships Gothic 4  [ 28/02/01 ]

    • GARMIN Announces Low-Cost Fixed-Mount Marine GPS with WAAS  [ 27/02/01 ]
      The GPS 152 a new fixed-mount GPS for the marine market has been unveiled by Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. In addition to 12 parallel GPS receiver it is compatible with the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS).


    • TIGER Files Available for Download in GIS Format  [ 27/02/01 ]
      ESRI today announced that it is providing the Census Redistricting 2000 TIGER/Line data as is released by the Census Bureau in ArcView GIS shapefile format for download from Geography Network


    • Start-1 Successfully Launches Odin [ 26/02/2001 ]
      A Start-1 rocket successfully launched the Odin 1 satellite from the Svobodny Cosmodrome at 0848:27 UTC on February 20. The satellite was placed into a circular, solar-synchronous orbit. The satellite was built by, and is owned and operated by the Swedish Space Corporation.


    • Launch of Titan 4 Postponed [ 26/02/2001 ]
      A report from the Air Force announced that Titan 4 Launch has been delayed to Tuesday at the earliest. The cause of the delay is a problem with the airborne telemetry system, identified late on Thursday.


    • Titan 4 to carry Milstar2 Defence Bird. [ 24/02/2001 ]
      After months of delay a Titan 4 has been cleared to launch a Milstar 2 defense satellite on Feb. 24 from Cape Canaveral Air Station.It is US the Defense Department's most technologically advanced telecommunications satellite,


    • Datum Awarded Atomic Clock Contract for EGNOS [ 24/02/2001 ]
      Datum Corporation's Timing has been awarded a contract to supply atomic clocks for Europe's Geostationary Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS). The atomic clocks will be the source for the critical EGNOS System Time, used to validate the satellite navigation signals for integrity and accuracy.


    • GARMIN introduces new GSM cellular phone [ 23/02/2001 ]
      Garmin Corporation has unveiled a new GSM cellular telephone for Europe Ð introducing the NavTalk II GSM. This product combines a European GSM cellular telephone with the proven ability of GARMIN's 12 parallel channel GPS receiver.


    • 3D Maps for the Third Generation Mobile Phone Platform [ 23/02/2001 ]

    • GPS thwarts parallel importers [ 23/02/2001 ]
      It is a chip, placed secretly inside the electronic goods, checks on the product's whereabouts with the help of GPS. If the chip finds that it is somewhere outside a pre-programmed region, it shuts the product down, making it useless.
