Three acquisitions and a Collaboration – announced during Be Inspired

14 October 2009
CHARLOTTE, N.C.: Bentley, today at the Be Inspired symposium, announced that it has acquired 9SQ Corporation, the KSJ Beijing Software Technology Co. Ltd. and gINT Software. It also announced a technology transfer agreement with Pointools Ltd., a U.K based company.

The acquisition of 9SQ Corporation, a leading provider of integration services and plant design software based in South Korea will extend Bentley's ability to fully support users of plant design software in Korea and the surrounding region. It also adds PlantWAVE software to its portfolio. PlantWAVE, provides ability to automatically generate 2D orthographic GA drawings from 3D plant design systems including AutoPLANT, PlantSpace, PDS, and PDMS. Among the many engineering/procurement/construction contractors and owner-operators in Korea and North America that 9SQ serves are Daelim Industrial, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, GS E&C, Hyundai Engineering, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Engineering Co., LTD., Toyo Engineering Korea, and WorleyParsons.

The signing of a definitive agreement to acquire the business of KSJ Beijing Software Technology Co. Ltd., which includes the BridgeMaster product line is to address the business opportunity from the unprecedented bridge investment in China.. BridgeMaster is the leading software in China for the fast and efficient automated production of bridge construction drawings meeting even the most demanding Chinese engineering standards.

Dr. Jean-Baptiste Monnier, senior vice president, Bentley Asia-Pacific, said, “We are delighted to announce this acquisition. China’s current ‘stimulus’ commitment to incremental infrastructure investment is unprecedented in world history, with $219 billion to be spent before the end of 2010 primarily on railway, road, irrigation, and airport construction. But China’s need and appetite for new bridges is particularly unsurpassed, with over $15 billion committed to bridge construction in the coming year! Our planned integration of ProjectWise with BridgeMaster will enable collaboration on a scale required for these extraordinary engineering efforts.

The third company in the latest acquisition list is gINT Software headquartered in Santa Rosa, California. This company ia a recognised leader in geotechnical data management. The new product gINT Enterprise, maximises the value of centrally managed subsurface data through multi-project reporting. The 'Intra-operating' from Bentley will introduce information modelling that extends to conditions below the ground as 'today, infrastructure is as much below ground as above it' said CEO Greg Bentley. And Bentley's new i-model 'currency of exchange', for change-managed deliverables, will facilitate the full integration of geotechnical specialists' project contributions. Finally, infrastructure project will immensely benefit from incorporating geotechnical workflows within information modelling.

On the collaboration front, Piontools' continuous technology transfer agreement with Bentley will enable Bentley software users to interoperably reference and manage, virtually unlimited point cloud data captured by 3D laser scanning of infrastructure assets, including LiDAR surveys, for intelligent infrastructure modelling.
