Adoption of Enterprise GIS in India

To achieve faster easier and more consistent results across the organization, the Enterprise Systems have to be enabled with Spatial Intelligence. Adding G (geospatial information) to the existing IS (information systems) is the need of the day.
However the organizations who ventured into this in the earlier stages faced with a lot of difficulties. These were
- Various technologies and their approaches
- Wide gaps in interoperability
- Requirement of tweaking the already established existing systems
- The cost of implementation and maintenance
- Scalability
In the originations world over the latest state of the art NetGIS technologies are making entry into lot of the large organizations at a faster pace. The latest technologies resolve most of these issues with incremental solution, ease of implementation and low maintenance cost and high scalability. Moreover better with better ROI.
India is way behind in this regard and not much has been happening in GIS adoption. With the current dynamics of growth in the economy and industries it is high time that organizations realize the importance of GIS enabled Enterprise Systems.
