Abstract
Land Development Department (LDD) had developed application programs in response to the need of LDD's regional offices to build and share GIS applications among poorly skilled end users.

Originally, the project was developed in collaboration with Chiang Mai University mostly under ArcView environment to be handed out to LDD's regional offices and later on to the bodies that work in the territory, such as provincial administration and individual farmers. All the functions of the complex application in the programs were brought into ArcView with an easy to use interface.

LDD has until now developed 5 personalization with 4 of them are in ArcView environment, namely:
  1. SoilView: Running Soil map of Thailand (76 provinces) in Microsoft Windows in Thai language.
  2. LandPlan : Running and analyzing changing in Land use/ land cover data with ArcView 3.0 or higher in Microsoft Windows and Graphic User Interface (GUI) in Thai language.
  3. EROSView : Running and analyzing soil erosion and factors inducing erosion through Thai menu bars under ArcView 3.1.
  4. AgZone : A decision support program for crop zoning to be used in ArcView 3.1. It included physical and economic zoning.
  5. ThaiPedon : Running soil series in Thailand included their properties and pictures of typical profiles.
The application programs make it easy to share of applications among different bodies, share both cartographic and noncartographic data, be trained and offered technical support by LDD.
