Resolution for Ad Hoc Working Group on EO Education and Training in Developing Countries

The 13^th CEOS Plenary

Recognising the need for capacity - building in Developing Countries in the field of EO - specifically to take care of the rapidly changing technology trends;

Recognising that the potential exists within CEOS agencies for supporting this important activity;

Recognising that CEOS activities, particularly the Working Group services/products, can effectively support education activities;

Recognising the need for stronger links between EO programmes and in-situ observations within the context of IGOS;

Noting the UNISPACE-III recommendations and the UN efforts to establish the UN Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education.

Decides to:

Warmly welcome the ISRO proposal, and invite ISRO to lead an ad hoc Working Group in association with Member and Associates who express interest, to prepare a strategy for CEOS future activities in education and training in Developing Countries, in time for consideration at 14^th Plenary - at which time Members and Associates will be invited to make commitments.
