RMSI which had been already been working on a geometric and attribute enhancement project of street data for one of its US client- a leading US digital street map database company, providing location-based applications, including in-car navigation, Internet services, wireless services, Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) services, and call-center services. RMSI took up the challenge to work on street addressing update for US, a work that requires thorough understanding of the US addressing peculiarities. The project aimed at improving potential address ranges and street names in the US street database, availability of updated and consistent data, benefited the logistics and routing companies.

The data update project required a robust customized work environment where more than 150 users could view/analyse vector street data, parcel images, and aerial photographs for undertaking complex business rule based editing. The project schedules were aggressive and RMSI needed to deliver very high quality outputs in a short timeframe. RMSI took up the challenge and what happened then is best seen now.

This paper highlights the cutting edge automation undertaken leveraging Oracle Spatial and ESRI Map Objects by innovating on every aspect of the project implementation, re-engineering small aspects of the complex data update process.
