Cooperative Development of a Cadastral Basemap for British Columbia Dilsher S. Virk President UniTech Consulting, Canada Email: dsvirk@gmail.com In the Province of British Columbia,Canada, Local Governments, The Provincial (State) Government, and the major Utility Companies (Tel.,Electrical,Cable TV etc.) have formed a non profit Society to to bring the disparate datasets maintained by each of these entities on to a common base. (www.icisociety.ca) The society now has over 130 members and in in the fourth year of operation. Mr. Virk was the founding General Manager for the Society. The paper will cover the various aspects of this very complex GIS and geopolitical venture and provide some guidance for others embarking on a similar path.
