The Satellite data interpretation techniques have proved significance in delineation of lineaments fractures/ joints/ faults,
which provide clues for ground water targetting in GIS Environment. This investigation has been carried out in Chitrakoot
area covering N 25° 0' - 25° 17' 30" Lat. and E. 80° 45' to 80° 55' Long. total area (184.750 sq km.). Prime objective of
this study is to identify the fabric of lineament analysis as well as for ground water targetting. Specially in the
improvements in the spatial resolution of I.R.S. I.D. PAN+ LISS -III merged data have resulted in the detection of major,
minor and some faint lineaments thus the out come resultant is in determining accurate ground water Zoning which is checked
using VES techniques too in Alluvial plain gullied area and in Pedi Plain Deeply weathered area. The lineament data have been
subjected to statistical treatment on I.R.S. 1 D PAN+ LISS IIIrd merged data dated 25th March 2002 and again I.R.S. 1D LISS
III data dated 12 Feb. 2003. For analysis part ARC/ INFO 7.04, ERDAS/ IMAGINE 8.01 work station based software and lineaments
analysis software in IBM and DELL high end PC system has been used. Ist thematic maps are generated visually and then in
integrated form. generated in GIS Environment most of the lineaments have strong surface manifestations. Total 71 Lineaments
has been identified. In "a" type lineaments A. group 27 lineaments identified in "a" group total length is 45. 43 km. with ‡”
Sin Ө is 14. 6244 and ‡” Cos Ө 20.4219 values calculated. Out of 27 lineaments 8 lineaments are intersecting each
other and shows good yield in wells and bore well of the study area. These are confirm type lineaments. The mean direction
for this group is Ө = 35. 650, Mean resultent is 0.9302. Calculated circular variance for "a" group is 0.698, in the
test of Randomness from Rayleigh test Critical value of R=.344 calculated. all of these are NE- SW "a" group lineament. In
the lineament frequency map, the ( NE- SW) a1 to a8 lineaments girdle zone indicates high drainage density. The (NE-SW)
trending lineaments are wide spared in the area "a1" lineament is highest in length ( 5.42 km). From the Total length average
length and frequency of mapped lineaments a graphical presentation vertical made for the support of above analysis. A Rose
diagram is also prepared. In "b" type for "B'" group - In "b" types lineaments trending in (NW-SE) group are 44 total in
number and having 65.24 km total length. The value of ‡” Sin Ө is 22.29222 and ‡” Cos Ө is 34.65749. The
lineament b 18 has maximum length 5.38 km in "b" group approximately 14 lineaments are confirm type and covering 18 times
intersections with (NE- SW) types lineaments, ground water condition is moderate to good in the criss cross sections suitable
sites has been suggested for GW. Exploration. For "b" group Ө = 32.740 R= 0.9365 length of resultant 0.0635 critical
value of (R) test of randomness R= 0.257. The mean direction of population (NW- SE) is confined.
