Al Ain Spatial Data Structures Kamal Abdellatif Abdalla Sami Dr. Head of Survey Department, UAE Email: drkmal@yahoo.com Al Ain Town Planning and Survey Sector (ATPSS) can be considered as the focal point for spatial data acquisition, access and delivery in the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi Emirate. An awareness of the benefits of digital spatial data started to grow since 1980s. The characteristics of the spatial data in the Sector can be described as common base map, plans and planning layers, cadastral information and land files, utility maps and setting out information, aerial photographs, ortho_photo and satellite imageries. The Town Planning and Survey sector is responsible for survey and spatial data collection, map production, preparation of plans and facilitating availability and access of spatial data in the region at all levels of government and private sectors as well as citizens. Most of the other spatial data products would use the main basic maps provided by the Sector as common reference and building upon this information the thematic data and applications were maintained in the region. Several trends of Al Ain spatial data will be presented together with the significant features of the current primary geo-spatial data projects.
