Mapping applications: use of specific SPOT 3D Product Bruno Montfort Middle East Regional Office Manager Spot Image, UAE Email: bmspot@emirates.net.ae Based on the unique specific stereo acquisition of the SPOT 5 satellite, SPOT IMAGE has developed a range of 3D products to meet the cartographic and surveyors requirements: SPOT DEM and SPOT Reference3D® products. These products provide accurate reference data for various mapping applications such as telecommunications, land management, geology, oil and gas, infrastructures planning (roads, railways….), impact studies, flight simulation…. For cartographic and survey departments, the updating of existing maps or generation of topographic maps over large areas in a short period, is a key issue. The Digital Elevation Model, orthoimage for GCP acquisition… extracted from SPOT 5 imagery are an excellent source of information to ensure consistent and high accuracy in any area. SPOT DEM and Reference3D and SPOT data, which combine large field of view, excellent geometric capabilities, are the most efficient, cost-effective and reliable products for these mapping applications.
