Automatic objects extraction is one of the important problems in photogrammetry and remote sensing. Recognition and detection of objects can be done based on images, laser data or combination of both. If we used laser data to extract height objects such as trees and buildings, a method can be used based on peaks from a reconstructed 3D model or digital surface data (DSM). In this paper, we developed a method for automatic peaks extraction from DSM. The method consists of two stages. In the first stage, a digital elevation model (DEM) is constructed from topographic maps 1:500 and in the next stage; peaks extract from the reconstructed DEM. The method is base on mathematical morphology and a recursive procedure.
