Abstract Mineral exploration strategy plan was revised in Geological Survey of Iran (GSI) in 1998 and about 20 high potential zones for Cu, Au, Pb, Zn, and Fe has been defined. One of these zones is Shazand- Aligudarz zone which has been located in west of Iran. The investigated area is covered by Golpaygan and Khoram abad geological map (scale 1:250,000) and are in 51 00 - 49 00 longitude and 33 00 -43 00 latitude. From the structural point of view in the area there are 4 major structural Zone: Zagros, Bistune, Central Iran and metamorphic rocks and intruded granitoides. The oldest rocks in the area are metamorphic rocks of arcane. Other rocks are carbonate rocks of Permian and Cretaceous. One of the important points for mineral exploration in this zone is the existence of good mine and indications such as iron, lead, zinc and Au in different rock types.
In this research we use the GIS modeling for exploration and use 5 sources for our data, including: geological map in 1: 100000 scale, geochemistry data, remote sensing, air borne geophysics and mines and indications data.
According to the valuable data in this zone we try some different type of modeling such as index-overlay, fuzzy-logic and weight-of-evidence in GIS environment based on data, for different elements.
Finally we select the best results for checking in the field in order to introducing the high potential area for continuing more works.
