Costal Line Changes Mapping Using a GIS Based Method,The Case Study of Booshehr,Iran

A GIS based approach was used to figure out costal line changes in the south part of Iran (Booshehr, Persian Gulf). In this study two series of aerial photographs (1967, 1994) were scanned, merged, georefrenced and processed to map out costal zone geomorphologic units and those changes during 26 years using ILWIS software capabilities. Erosion and sedimentation of costal line were mapped in a raster calculation and the results enhanced in the changes cross maps. The units(estuary, river, fan, berm, berm crest, paleo shoreline ,sand dune, etc.) changes and the methods will introduced in this paper.
