Abstract
The demand for web mapping solutions in Malaysia has increased as more organizations realized the importance of using map for monitoring and planning. Web mapping is favorable over PC map as it supports multiuser over Internet. The centralized web mapping eases map updating and distribution. Web mapping is suitable for both public and private organizations to distribute real-time alerts, events, and notices to public geographically. Notices such as road closure and accidents can assist users in planning their journey. Alerts on past and potential disaster zone can assist users to plan their future investment too. Organizations can also use web mapping as front end to their real-time monitoring system. They can use web mapping to track their personnel, vehicle position and project status at specified location. IP camera and other IP devices can also be integrated onto the web map.Interactive web mapping is definitely more usable compared to static image. By integrating existing web portal with web map, the organization not only can build up their global reputation but also serve the public better and efficiently.
