Abstract

Semantics and Semantic interoperability is becoming an important area as the Semantic Web is slowly gaining momentum. Semantic interoperability is crucial for Geospatial Information (GI) Science, as GI Science has wider and more diverse applications and user base. GI Science had recently experienced a strong drift towards becoming a decentralized and service based science. Initiatives by Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) have been the motivating and driving force behind this movement. OGC’s standardization process is of primary importance but it’s still a partial picture in realizing these services. Robust technology and architecture is required to achieve the goal of these services. Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web services and Grid computing technology provides an infrastructure to realize OGC web services. But neither OGC nor these technologies by itself provide a mechanism to deal with Semantic differences that are natural in GI Science. This paper presents an experiment on dynamic reconfiguration of workflows and its extension by integrating semantics.
