Abstract
As the technology advances, with the advent of sophisticated hardware, location measurement is becoming more and more accurate. GPS-Aided-INS (GAINS) is providing reliable solutions in Military, Aviation, Marine and Land Surveying Applications. The increasing accuracy and reliability of GAINS has opened door of Mobile Mapping Solution (MMS) in Precision Agriculture.
The Global Positioning System (GPS) provides the positioning, velocity, and timing data from the satellite signals in the line of sight. And the Inertial Navigation System (INS) maintains the availability of the navigation solution during GPS outages that are due to interference, jamming, etc. The application of GPS-Aided-INS for use in Precision Agriculture give farmers accurate and quick updates about the location of the field, even when there is no signal available under the canopy, predicting the precision site specific farming, and ultimately contribute towards better yield monitoring and management. . The research is in its initial phase and this paper provides an overview of Mobile Mapping Solution for Precision Agriculture by GPS-Aided-INS Approach.
