A number of GPS augmentation systems have recently been developed for different applications in various regions. The manufacturers of these commercial services claim decimeter or near decimeter level horizontal positioning precision. These systems provide different types of correction and integrity signals to users via satellite links. This research investigated on the comparison between three commercial WADGPS services, and their performance for marine applications in the Persian Gulf. The NavCom , C & C and THALES GeoSolution group Technologies were chosen for this research. The primary goal of this research was to determine how each system performed with respect to criteria including: Positioning solution reliability, precision, accuracy, integrity and speed. All three related receivers (C-NAV from C&C Technology, Starfire from THALES, and Starfix from Fugro ) were mounted aboard the SAF400 Crane Barge provided by Deep Offshore Technology Co. and simultaneously observations data were collected for 6 days. Then The 1 Hz data were processed and decimated down to 6 minute epochs, thus speeding the filter processing to obtain real-time data latency. The standard deviation of the residuals between these systems indicated that for the data collected the mentioned services can provide decimeter or near decimeter positioning precision after tens of minutes of operations even in high multipath environments. This level of precise positioning is commensurate with International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) Special Order surveys.
