Carrier beat phase observations are routinely used in the precise GPS positioning applications. An inherent part of using these kinds of observations is resolving ambiguities. Finding a fast and reliable method to resolve the ambiguities has always been a challenging task. Among different existing techniques, LAMBDA is one of the most popular ones which is both fast and reliable. However, all of ambiguity resolution methods have always been suffered from multipath. This paper reviews the LAMADA method and studies the effect of multipath on ambiguity resolution. Numerical experimentations show that the ambiguities may not be correctly resolved in the presence of multipath. It is also shown that the effect of multipath on the reference satellite is more serious than the other satellites. It is strongly suggested to make sure that the reference satellite is free of multipath effect.
