Abstract
Knowing the precise location of mobile workers or tracking their field assets is critical to many enterprises.
With the advent of GPS and tracking solutions, companies started better managing their field
workers and workers’ assets in the field. The last few years have seen a significant advancement in the
technology and products offered in this area. As the first generation products which primarily focused on
a ‘track and trace’ solution is getting commoditized, the next generation products integrating GPS ,
cellular network and a new generation of mobile devices are opening up new revenue generating opportunities
for companies. With worldwide mobile workforce numbers to reach 1 billion by 2011.
