On design consideration of multi-purpose color orthorectified photomap for the kingdom of Thailand

Abstract
One of the most ambitious collaborative mapping project in Thailand is underway. Thailand is now preparing color orthorectified photomaps covering the whole kingdom of Thailand. Aerial color photographs at 1:25,00 scale is continuously taken and then processed with latest digital photogrammetry technology.

Considerations and design have been carefully made from aerial photo flight to final products to ensure the quality. The color photomaps and their by-products will be used for natural resource management and property management. So the products are assumed to be multi-purpose. Many international mapping standards have been adopted for the project. It is expected that Thailand shall be have a new spatial database with modern, accurate and highly-detail digital orthorectified photomaps including high-resolution DEM. The photomaps shall be further served as the basis for better administration, management and implementation of e-government, e-commerce solution.
