Introduction
In this report I describe the activities of my internship at the Social Sciences Division at the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Sciences (ITC) in Enschede. This internship took place from 6 June 2001 to 9 November 2001. This is an interim report. It does not intend to be a complete (scientific) document on the use of GIS in local government; it hopefully invites comments; additional information and suggestions for improvement.
