Acknowledgement

I am grateful to Dr. Sukumar Devotta, Director, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur, who gave me an opportunity to work in the Environmental System Design and Modeling Division.

I would thank to Dr. A. Gupta, Deputy Director and Head, ESDM Division, NEERI, Nagpur for giving me facility to use ESDM computer lab.

I am extremely fortunate that I got an opportunity to do work with Dr. (Mrs.) Aabha Sargaonkar for my M. Sc project. No words can express the involvement and dedication she had shown throughout the tenure of my project work. She had not only given valuable guidance, and me a mehtodogy but also painstakingly took efforts to teach each and every step of the work. It was my privilege that I got the full benefit of her resounding knowledge and vast experience in this field. It was only because of her sheer encouragement, selfless help an d above all, extraordinary patience, that I could complete this project. I express my sincere gratitude to her. She is always remaining as a source of inspiration for me.

I sincerely thanks Dr. B.B. Gunjal, Head of Department, Environmental Science Department, and Mr. P.L. Kulkarni, registrar Vasantdada Sugar Institute, Manjri (Bk.), Pune for their constant cooperation through out the course. I also wish to express my feeling of gratitude to Ms. Deepali Nimbalkar Madam, Department of Environmental science for giving constant encouragement throughout the course.
