Input Data and Methodology
3.4.2 Preparation of Base map, Talukawise Area of
Interest (AOI), and Thematic Maps
A base map at 1:250000 scale illustrating major cultural features (villages,
roads, river, water, bodies and railway network etc.) was prepared from topographic
maps of survey of India. Digitizing the taluka boundary in the base
map and extracting the AOI from IRSP6 data drew AOI of each Taluka.
Different thematic classes prepared for classification of Remote Sensing data
include level I and Level II categories as given below:
| Level I |
Level II |
Agriculture land
Water body
Settlement
Forest
Wasteland |
Crop, current fallow
River, reservoir, sand
Settlement
Forest
Rock out crop |
Agricultural area in each taluka obtained from supervised classification
was digitized using ArcGIS and mapped into the base map prepared for Nagpur District.
