Input Data and Methodology
3.1 Rainfall
Nagpur has been classified under the Tropical Dry Sub-humid climate. The district
receives a total rainfall of 1127 mm which accounts for about 77%
a potential evapotranspiration (1459mm) and the actual evapotranspiration
is 829 mm. The soils have surplus moisture (297mm) from July to
October while they remain dry from arch to June with water deficit of 630 mm (NBSS & LUP,
Nagpur, Maharashtra). The data shows that the soils remain moist in some
or all parts for over 6months and continuously dry for about 4 months. Monthly
rainfall data in Nagpur District is presented in Table 1.
